I am directed to state that Annamalai University is one of the Universities recognised by the University Grants Commission for the purpose of its Grants. Hence the Degrees / Diplomas awarded by the Annamalai University which is established by an Act of this Government would stand automaticallyrecognised for the purpose of employment under Centre / State Governments. A copy of this letter along with a copy of your letter cited has been forwarded to the Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Annamalai University, Annamalainagar – 608 002 to give you further more details regarding recognition.

       Sub: Recognition of Educational Qualifications.

I am directed to refer to your letter No. D1/10906/88 dated 9.10.1988 without its enclosures regarding recognition of qualification for the purpose of employment under the Central Government and to say that the degrees/diplomas awarded by the Universities established by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature, Institution deemed to be Universities, under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and Institution of National Importance declared under an Act of Parliament stand automatically recognised for purpose of employment under the Central Government. No formal orders recognising such degrees/diplomas are necessary to be issued.

Recognition of Diploma in Labour Laws with Administrative Law

The Government of Tamil Nadu has Recognised the Diploma in Labour Laws with Administrative Law of the Annamalai University as qualification for the post of Welfare Officers’ Vide Notification G.O. Ms. 1905, Labour Department dated 6-9-1985.

       Sub: Public Services - Post Graduate Degree through Open University conducted by the Annamalai University - Recognition - Reg.
        Ref: Your Lr. No/ /A2/97 dated 18.02.1997
I am directed to refer to your letter cited and to state that the Annamalai University is included in the list of Institutions recognised by the University Grants Commission for the purpose of its grant. The above University has also been included in Schedule 33 of the General Rules for Tamil Nadu State and Subordinate services. As such with reference to the rule 19 of the general rules for Tamil Nadu State and Subordinate services, M.A. Degree programmes in various branches of Annamalai University under Open University System are automatically recognised as a qualification for appointment in Public Services.
