Objective:
     The programmes aim at making the learners understand the conceptual skills in operation, and administrative management related to hospitality services.  It provides an opportunity to meet the ever demanding needs of the Hospitality Industry.

     Technical Education in the area of Hotel Management has assumed significance at present.  Being the world’s largest service sector and India’s favourite field of export, the continued growth of Tourism has helped in creating many new jobs that require appropriate education and training at all levels. Tourism sector offers a wide spectrum of employment opportunities to various skilled personnel from highly trained managers to room boys, artisans, transport workers, etc.

     Annamalai University, in technical collaboration with Soorya Institute of Management Studies, is conducting Hotel Management, Tourism and Catering Technology programmes at the U.G. and P.G., P.G. Diploma, Diploma levels from the academic year 2011-2012 through Distance Education mode for youths aspiring jobs in this industry.

     The Soorya Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) is located in the heart of Puducherry City, the old French town Boulevard and has enough resources to train the students on par with international standards. The institute has a peaceful and conducive environment to conduct these programmes so as to enable the students to acquire professional competence and rich experience.

     SIMS, managed by Soorya Educational Trust, is a group concern of Hotel Soorya International. It has a hotel with three-star facilities located in Puducherry where resources are available at international standards.  The main objective of the Institute is to train the students to equip themselves with the current requirements of the industry by meritorious coaching.  The faculty has reputed professionals with rich experience at various levels of the Industry.
