ABOUT DEPARTMENT
The Department of Chemical Engineering is one among the nine departments under the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, established in the year 1945. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in Chemical Engineering. The Department of Chemical Engineering is presently Headed by Professor Dr. T. VIRUTHAGIRI. Under his able guidance, this Department also offers PG degree programmes with specialization in Bio-Technology, Food Processing Technology and Industrial Safety Engineering. It embodies well equipped laboratories and equipments including FTIR, Fermentor, HPLC, GC, AAS, Spectrofluorometer to cater the needs of the students and research scholars. It enjoys the experience of having organized the Chemical Engineering Congress (CHEMCON 2010), SCHEMCOM-2007 and many refresher courses, symposium and workshops. It has produced more than 50 Ph.D Scholars. Most of them have completed their Doctoral Programme in the area of Environmental Engineering and Biotechnology.

ABOUT ISTE
Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is a National, Professional, Non-Profit making society registered under the Societies
Registration Act XXI of 1860. The major objective of the ISTE is to assist and contribute significantly in the development of the top quality professional engineers and technicians needed by the industries and other organizations.

ABOUT PROGRAMME
This programme is aimed to impart insight knowledge in the field of treatment of Industrial Effluent through discussing the advances in waste water treatment and disposal. It would help to understand the current methods and the challenges ahead.
This programme will address the following topics.

• Introduction to Industrial Wastewater Treatment
• Conventional Waste Water Treatment Technologies
• Application of Biological Methods in Waste Water Treatment
• Application of Membrane Technology in Waste Water Treatment
• Application of Electrochemical Technology in Waste Water Treatment
• Environmental Pollution and Control - Legal Aspects and
• Common Effluent Treatment Plants in India - Current Scenario.

An industrial visit is planned to arrange in this regard for knowledge exposure. Renowned Professors from IITM – Chennai, NIT – Trichy, CECRI – Karaikudi, CLRI – Chennai, Anna University – Chennai and Trichy Campus, Annamalai University and relevant field experts from various Industries will deliver the special lecture.

WHO CAN ATTEND?
This programme is open only for ISTE members of academic institutions and industries. The faculty members of engineering colleges offering the degrees in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Textile Engineering, Leather Technology, Paper and Pulp

Technology and the peoples from relevant industries are invited to participate this programme. Since the number of seats is limited to 30, confirmation will be made on the first come first serve basis.

ABOUT ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation will be provided to all the Participants in the University Guest House.

ABOUT REGISTRATION
The interested candidates may send the duly filled in registration form recommended and forwarded by their Head of the Institution/Organization to the COORDINATOR along with the registration fee on or before 25th May 2012. Advance copy of registration form may be accepted but the intimation will be made only after receiving the official letter.

ABOUT REGISTRATION FEE
Participants from Academic Institution Rs: 2500/-
Participants from Industries Rs: 5000/-
The registration fee is to be paid in the form of DD in favor of The Registrar, Annamalai University payable at Annamalai Nagar.
